All About
Nestled in northeastern Oklahoma in the region called the "Green Country," Tulsa is the second-largest city in the state (behind the capital, Oklahoma City) and is the 45th largest city in the U.S. The city, with its population of nearly 400,000, sits along fabled Route 66. In fact, one of Tulsa's nicknames is the "birthplace of Route 66" because Cyrus Avery, the businessman who is known as the Father of Route 66, lived in Tulsa when he began his campaign to establish the road that would link California to Chicago.
