WORST PLACE TO LEAVE AT! They literally dont care what happens to your apartment and unless there is going to be a damage to the property, they wont look your way. RUDE staffs as well!
The roommate matching is terrible. I had such a terrible experience that management had to move me to another unit. The appliances vary from unit to unit and look nothing like the pictures. The fridge leaks and the oven is gross, ugly, and broken. I went to pick up my package from the office and it had been opened. The management doesn't take concerns seriously. Promised $100 off my rent to renew and didn't come through so now I am stuck with another year;s lease.
Not sure who these people are who are rating this 5 stars, but I have a suspicion that they are not legit.
Heater has been broken 4 times in the past 6 months. Maintenance takes 4-5 days to respond, even if something is considered an "emergency".
Office staff is rude and forgetful. I was fooled once or twice by their "don't worry, we'll take care of it!" but after my 4th trip into the office for the same issue, I won't fall for that again.
Bugs. Outdated. Appliances suck. Pretty sure the entire complex is on a $50 for the whole month rule. Maintenance takes shortcuts when fixing things, office giveaways and care packages suck. Don't be fooled by all the "events," when they only have a budget of $20/event, you can't expect much.
There are much better and cheaper places to live in Norman.
I've lived at the Commons for over a year. I love it. There is a Sheriff that lives on property and has helped me at night when my neighbors were loud. My apartment is nice. I hear about bugs, but I keep my apartment clean and have never had a problem. Staff is always nice and friendly when I get the free lunch they serve or pay rent. Overall, I love for the rate and will stay as long as I am in Norman.
Stairs are crumbing, building M has gutters that aren't attached to the roof, hot tub doesn't work (it's just standing water), no security, black mold throughout the unit that maintenance was too lazy to fix, floors collapsing under the air conditioner (seriously, I could see my downstairs neighbor apartment if I opened the air conditioning cover, maggots regularly crawled in from the outside wall, termites are eating the place, no fire extinguishers (at least in the older units), our smoke alarms were 14 years out of date, when our dryer broke they destroyed the knob and then charged us for it, and if you have any issue it is entirely your fault. Oh, and when I called the fire department for smelling smoke, they got mad because I didn't call the office first. Seriously, the office staff is condescending and will talk down to you if they get the chance (especially if it's something that hurts the reputation of the complex). Oh, and they charged a carpet cleaning fee after I moved out, even though they never use that money to clean anything. Oh, and going back to the smoke alarms: when they did finally replace those, they came in early in the morning while my fiance and I were still asleep and installed the new ones right next to us without warning or anything. It was creepy. Please stay as far away as you can from this place. It's cheap, but don't be fooled.
