Wright State University, OH

When Wright State University was founded on the edge of Dayton, Ohio in 1964, it served as a branch campus for both Miami University and Ohio State University, and was comprised of a single building. Over the years, more has changed than just its architecture. Today, student living at Wright State University is distinguished by its strength in doctoral, research and undergraduate education, which has propelled it to one of the U.S. News and World Report's Tier One colleges in the U.S. Today, nearly 20,000 students are enrolled at the college, about one-fourth of whom elect to find a college apartment within a mile of campus. This off campus housing enables many students at Wright State University to pursue a degree while benefiting from the community resources of a healthy Dayton community.

As part of its nearly half-century of expansion, Wright State has developed a number of new colleges and degree programs to enhance student living and increase options of study. The totals have reached 19 associate degrees, 91 bachelor's degrees and 76 graduate and professional degrees available at eight colleges and three schools. While the atmosphere on campus is intimate, the university is in many ways still a commuter school, with about 5,000 students in off campus housing nearby.

Although the University's address is listed as Dayton, Ohio, it is actually located in Fairborn, a suburb of about 32,000 residents. This location positions students among the local eateries and businesses of a suburban town, but just a stone's throw from the flare and excitement of Dayton.
