In 1920, the University of Northwestern Ohio became the first institution on higher learning in the city of Lima, Ohio. More than 90 years later, the school continues to set the benchmarks for academics in the area, and to entice young learners to further their education from University of Northwestern Ohio student housing. Within the past decade, the university became the first school with an accelerated baccalaureate degree program in Lima, the first in the city with a Microsoft IT Academy and the first with a Specialized Studies Degree in northwest Ohio.
