Tracing its roots all the way back to 1833, Oberlin College has carved itself a flattering place in history on several fronts. The school, located in Oberlin, Ohio, is regarded as the first American institution of higher learning to regularly admit both female and black students. Pedagogically as well as socially, the college led the charge, and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music is now the oldest continuously operating conservatory in the country.
