Gates Mills Place

I've been renting for over a decade, and this has been my worst experience. Even The Drake treated me better. This place might seem better, but it's not worth it. Marilyn, the leasing manager, assured us everything would be ready before we moved in. However, upon arrival, the unit was a mess: Maintenance worker still in the unit when we moved in Unpainted doors, dusty AC units, and mold in the master bedroom AC Damaged and taped-up refrigerator took over a month to replace Old, greasy oven/range with a torn gasket, Debris-filled carpets and dirty windows, Cracked bathroom tiles, and improperly wired outlets Chris, the maintenance director, promised repairs within a week, but they took weeks. We requested a discount for the inconvenience, but Marilyn and the corporate office ignored us. The leasing associates were rude and unhelpful, and the property manager ignored us. This felt like discrimination, especially as I am a hijabi Muslim and my father doesn't speak English well. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, go elsewhere. This place is frustrating and disappointing.

Washer and dryer barely work even though they said they're new ones. Still not reliable. Creepy basement. I've had mail issues. There's no camera in the mailroom. The place lacks proper security and lighting in garages. 3 elevators but 2/3 usually out of service. They sell you a dream and increase your rent every year while the building gets older every year. Same issues year to year. They paint to make themselves feel better I think. Tenants don't care if it's painted. They want safety and cleanliness. And functioning equipment they pay for that is in the lease. Like working washing machines and dryers. They steal your money if you put your card in too early. $2.30 wash same for dry. Ridiculous. I pay $915 for a 1 bed 1 bath. Fire alarm goes off a lot and they can't explain it but they "test" it all the time. It's an old building and they won't admit the system is broken. Not good. Not honest. The office doesn't care they just want your money. They don't care about inconvenience you. Save your money.

This is the worst place I have ever lived. Again today, there is only 1 elevator to use and K&D employees are filling up that oner with huge carts so only 2 or 3 RESIDENTS can enter the elevator. Elevator 2 has not worked in about a week. When I take my dog out, I have to watch where I step because there is dog poop everywhere. I PICK UP my dog's poop when she goes. The outside garbage is again overflowing, tenants in 8 North don't have the decency to push their garbage down the chute so I have to so I can get my garbage down. Carpets and floors are always dirty. For this I am paying high rent. Can't wait till my lease is up. I would rather live in my car then renew my lease here.

K&D management is a joke. Even with 90 days advance notice of vacating the premises, they will place a tenant in your apartment and will charge you a full month's rent. If you complain you will never see your security deposit. I lived here for two years with my wife and daughter, and couldn't wait to leave this rundown apartment. The office works on weekdays and daytime, evening staff is always on smokebreak or sleeping somewhere. I am sure Carol is trying her best but upper management and high staff turnover make it very misserable to live especially if you have a family to feed. I saw Mayfield Police and the firefighters visit the North Tower every holiday, even in the middle of the night, because your neighbors like to pull the alarm pranks. Maintenance is overworked with little or no tools to do their job. Old appliances and even older HVAC and Plumbing. Roaches as big as an adult thumb. The inside swimmingpool is warm only during summer. The restroom/change rooms are always locked. The Rec rooms smell like mildew, and none of the machines work. There are other options in the area. Pay a little more and be treated with respect and dignity.

Had a great tour and was very impressed with the property. I have friends that have lived there in the past. It looks like they are doing a lot of work to the buildings so it's good to see b/c my last place never did anything.

Carrie took me on a tour of the premises. Carrie was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Although Gates Mills had a lot to offer, I preferred living closer to my church in Cleveland Heights and took an apartment closer to the Heights.

I love my customer service rep in the west building. Her name is Anita. She helps keep my life in order. She handles all my deliveries and always answers any questions I may have. I do not know what I would do without her. She is even there to give me some life advice when I need it.

Our service man Montago Burgess is the greatest. We were having very low water pressure in the master bath room shower.. Montago came checked the water both hot and cold . Two weeks prior the water was off for repair. After informing Montago that's when our problem started. He pulled the shower head and found our problem. He is the greatest,he is always professional and very pleasant with a great smile. Hope he stays here forever. Thanks again Montago for a great job.

I just signed a lease to move into Gates Mills Place and I had Erick Garcia in the leasing office help me out! I have never had such an enjoyable, easy, & helpful process when trying to find a place to live! He was informative, professional, communicative and overall such a delight. I am very happy to have had such a good experience and I would recommend his help to anyone!!

North Building is a great place to live and i love thats its affordable! Maintenance is quick to respond to issues if there are any. Lived here for several years now and really haven't even had many issues with my studio, but when I do maintenance is very helpful. Ms Judy at the front desk is a blessing as well! Shes Always so helpful. I dont believe anything is perfect though so the only downside (and it's not even bad because really there are a lot of people using them so it makes sense that there are bound to be some issues) is the laundry room sometimes has broken machines and ya dont notice til after you put your clothes in, but they recently replaced all of the machines and they do regular maintenance to keep them running. Overall this is a great community.

I’ve been a Long Time Resident of Gates Mills Place for over 35 years, I witness the Changes and Improvements of the property on by K & D. The maintenance of the property has been kept up well in the Spring and l like that they Plant Beautiful Flowers in Spring so as you enter the property it’s very Uplifting to see & the Grass is very well-maintained. I like that the Property Manager Heather Talton tries to come up with nice events for the Residence, such as Breakfast, Games & Drawing for Prizes for all the Residence held recently & a Cookout in the Summer which The Residence much Appreciate the effort by Heather & The K & D Staff. I like that the Regional Manager, Jeff, Tennis is very approachable to discuss any issue that might be on your mind. When he’s on the property. Judy Ziccardi is a professional Ray of Sunshine & for the North Building. I’m a animal lover and it’s nice to see all the wonderful Pets throughout the property, but we need to have the Owners to be more Responsible for pick up their pets droppings, such as Owners taking a Bag and Picking up the Droppings as they walk their pets. There are a lot of Nice Residents that Live in Gates Mills Place, which make it a Very Enjoyable Community. This has always been My Home, and I have been Happy to Live Here.
