All About
Living In Kent State University, OH
When Kent State University opened in 1912, it was known as the Kent Normal School, and offered teacher-training courses in sequence of temporary locations. About a century later, the school has grown to 1,000 acres and 119 buildings on its campus in Kent, Ohio, and has just recorded its highest enrollment total, with 41,365 pupils in student housing. Nowadays, scholars are drawn to the Kent State University campus and to university apartments by the wealth of options the school offers in the arts and sciences, its many research opportunities, and the comforts of student living in Kent, Ohio.
Student housing at Kent State is filled with young scholars with a variety of interests, who are distributed throughout the university’s some 350 degree programs, which include 50 master’s programs and 23 doctoral programs. Notably, the institution has received acclaim for it’s top-rated programs in fashion design, journalism, nursing and business, as well as its unique fields of study, like liquid crystals and aeronautics. These distinctions have helped Kent State University achieve a ranking among the top 80 public research universities in the country, according to the Carnegie Foundation.
With eight campuses in northeast Ohio, Kent State makes it easy to find off campus housing that is accessible and convenient. Though the university extends into Ashtabula, Burton, East Liverpool, Jackson Township, New Philadelphia, Salem and Warren, its main campus in Kent is the largest and most popular. A university apartment here lets students take part in a variety of the town’s holiday festivals, the "Who’s Your Mama?" Earth Day, and 100 or so annual concerts and events on the Kent Stage.
