If you are a college student who just needs a temporary place to crash during the school year, this is probably the place for you and your roommates. If you are not a super clean person, this is the place for you.
If you are a clean person and want to be comfortable in your home, this is not the community for you. If you have indoor allergies, this is not the place for you. If you hate bugs, this is not the place for you. If you are a light sleeper, do not move on the first floor. If you hate bugs, do not move here. If you enjoy a nice staff, do not move here.
My experience here was TERRIBLE.
During my tour I told them I didnt want to live in a unit that had previously been rented by a smoker. I was told that wouldnt be a problem. When I got there it smelled a little like smoke but I was told it was the smell of the new carpet glue. This became an apparent lie when the smell only grew stronger, I couldnt be in the apartment for more than 45 minutes before getting a headache.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, my roommate had to leave before the end of the lease. I was told I would be able to downsize if the rent/bills became too much for me. When I approached them about moving they told me I couldnt move to a unit that had cheaper rent than what I was currently paying. Thanks for nothing. I ended up paying the outrageous $2000 lease-breaking fee and then had to pay for 2 more months of rent/bills.
I had a few problems with maintenance and management. Maintenance came into my townhome without previous notice and locked me out. I called the 24/7 emergency hotline (August 2019) and to this day (February 2020) they have yet to get back to me. When I called management and told them the issue the person I spoke to was very nonchalant about the fact that I was locked out at 12:45 AM and never had maintenance solve the issue. I also put in two maintenance requests (broken window, broken window screens, outlets that didnt work) that were marked completed but they were never fixed.
Natassja is amazing. I'm moving back after 15 years into a place less than 50 yards frim where I lived before. All the office staff has been really friendly. I'm excited to come back home!
The management here is absolutely humiliating. I moved here while Towne Properties was still managing. They were absolutely 5 stars. The new management is truly awful. Every star they have was earned for them by the previous management.
Here are the issues I've observed:
Bugs, maintenance, so much mold in the AC units which they basically told us to fix ourselves, deciding to repaint (not even repave) the lots. Emailed the day of, and they towed me instead of calling me. I could have just walked out of my apartment to move my car, but now they are charging me for their incompetence. Btw, they towed us at 9:30 in the morning, and I got the email that morning.
We got an paper eviction notice with no call or warning, because (for the first time ever) our payment didn't go through. We have always paid on time, and they tried to kick us out with 3 days notice after the first payment issue?!
They will charge you a pet fee for having mercy on the MANY homeless cats in the community instead of trying to help or at the very least, just ignoring the wildlife. They don't charge a pet fee for feeding birds, but somehow feeding dependent animals like cats is a crime. They also essentially bribed people to give five stars. The people in charge of all of this are despicable.
Also, the papers they give us are left in the dirt outside our door. They have our phone number and email address.
This apartment is terrible. I lived in a townhome. When I moved in the sink in the upstairs bathroom leaked and the fan made a horrible noise. I requested maintenance the second day ever being there and they never came to fix the problem. Also, most of the windows are so old they don't open and the ones that do I can't close properly. I constantly had stink bugs in the apartment and once a mouse! it came from the walls and luckily my cat scared it enough that I could catch it in a bag. It was obvious it came from around the water tank because there were several mouse traps that I didn't notice when i moved in. The maintenance never came when requested but would enter my home without consent for orders I never placed. They constantly mixed up the house numbers! On the requests you can say if they can enter or not and I always said no because of my cat. I didn't want her to run so all the times they came into my apartment while I hadn't given consent really bothered me. I even had to put a note on the door about my cat because it happened three different times. I wouldn't recommend living here. The place is overpriced and they have a "gym" that has broken equipment from the 80s. If you are looking for a place to call home, keep looking because this isn't it.
