Chancellor University, OH

Chancellor University in Cleveland, Ohio, has developed over a long history during which it has gone through several name changes, and expanded its academic profile. Founded in 1848 as Folsom’s Mercantile College, the university sought to make instruction on basic business skills and bookkeeping a primary function of student living. Since then, the school has been named the Union Business School, Spencerian College, the Dyke School of Commerce, and Myers College, before it settled into Chancellor University, an institution that now provides education in a variety of areas outside of the business world.

Students at Chancellor University can pursue an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as the key element of student living. The school has maintained it’s distinction as a business school, offering a wide variety of programs in this field, but no longer offers these courses exclusively. Today, nearly 800 students live in on and off campus housing, pursing academic areas that include criminal justice, health services management, paralegal education and public administration.

Most off campus housing near Chancellor University’s main campus is scattered around East 40th Street and Chester Avenue in the historic Midtown neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. From a university apartment, students are able to easily navigate the exciting downtown area, and enjoy local attractions like the North Park and the Midtown Plaza Shopping Center. To the north of many university apartments lies Bacci Park, and the Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation, which offer green spaces alongside views of the shimmering canal.
