Bluffton University, OH

Bluffton, Ohio, a town of fewer than 4,000 residents, owes much of its local culture and excitement to student living at Bluffton University. The school has been a landmark of the town since it was founded in 1899 as Central Mennonite College. Though the name has changed, the liberal arts college has maintained its affiliation with the Mennonite Church USA to the present day, and preserved the church’s message as a cornerstone of its instruction. Students decide to rent a university apartment at Bluffton University for the school’s academic strengths, its unique observances, and the highlights of the surrounding town.

Student living at Bluffton University demands a measure of academic rigor and honesty from those who enroll. The school offers 39 undergraduate majors through 13 separate academic departments, as well as Masters programs in Business Administration, Arts in Organizational Management, and Arts in Education. Uniquely, Bluffton does not proctor its students during exams, but instead asks that they sign an honor pledge not to cheat, and to report any students who do to the professor.

Outside the classroom, off campus housing provides a host of other unique attributes to living at Bluffton University. By renting a university apartment, students become part of a community that holds events and activities throughout the year.
