Pfeiffer University got its start around 1885 as a home school operating out of a tiny North Carolina village called Lick Mountain. From these humble roots, the institution dramatically expanded its student living options by becoming an accredited four-year college in 1960, and expanding into a university by 1996. Today, student housing is available near the university's campus in the the village of Misenheimer, as well as its satellite campus in Charlotte and graduate school, or Triangle Campus, in Morrisville. Each of these campuses offer a distinct student living experience, which may be enhanced by renting a university apartment in the area.
The university's academic programs are offered through the schools of business, education, fine arts, languages and literature, natural and health sciences, religion, social and behavioral sciences and graduate studies. A student's experience at Pheiffer University differs greatly depending on the campus he or she attends. Student housing near the Misenheimer campus places students in cozy town that is both comfortable and easy to navigate. The Triangle Campus caters exclusively to graduate students, and the Charlotte campus is home to several hundred students, many of whom rent a Pheiffer University apartment near Park Road's attractions, including Duckworths Bar and Grill and the Suarez Bakery.
In total, the three campuses support approximately 1,400 students who study in a wide variety of degree programs. At each learning center, student housing options range from dormitories to off campus housing.
