North Carolina Wesleyan College fist opened its doors for student living in 1960, and has continued to develop its campus and curriculum in its relatively short history. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the college pursues a mission to “unite the pair so long disjointed - knowledge and vital piety.” Student housing at NCWC is most often found near the school’s main campus in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, though the institution now has satellite campuses in Morrisville and Goldsboro as well. Rocky Mount, also known as “The City on the Rise,” or more colloquially, “Rock City,” invites students to find a college apartment in the community and enjoy its growing arts community. Today, about 600 traditional students and 800 students in NC Wesleyan’s evening program enroll at the college and find student housing in the Rocky Mount community.
With a curriculum rooted in the liberal arts, North Carolina Wesleyan College offers Bachelor’s of Arts and Bachelor’s of Science degrees in 22 academic disciplines. Due to the success of the of the school’s adult degree program and evening classes over the past decade, the college as added a selection of vocational degrees to its established offering of pure liberal arts and science concentrations.
Students who rent off campus housing near the school are able to complement their education and enhance their social life through the resources of their new home. With about 58,000 residents, Rocky Mount offers enough entertainment and leisure to support student living and the community at large. A college apartment can be found surrounding the NCWC campus, or closer to downtown, which sits about four miles to the south. The city operates an Arts Center, a Children’s Museum and Science Center and a Community Theater at the Imperial Center for Arts and Sciences.
