Methodist University, a private institution in Fayetteville, North Carolina, has been a part of this vibrant, urban community since it first opened its doors in 1956. After 50 years under the banner of Methodist College, the school changed its name to Methodist University in 2006, and now offers three graduate programs as part of student living. Since 2007, Methodist University has opened a new science building, the Nimocks Fitness and Wellness Center, a new football field house, and begun construction of the Bethune Center for Visual Arts. Within this time frame the institution also purchased a majority stake of the King's Grant Golf Course, to meet the needs of a growing population of students who have been admitted to the PGA's Professional Golf Management Program.
