I recently moved to Durham from Maryland because I retired from the school system there. I had looked at many apts. and when I came and saw the model at South Terrace my looking was over. I fell in love with the place right away. The staff and maintenance crew made me feel so welcome. This place is gorgeous and very roomy, What I love most is that I don't have to climb any steps. They recently had a Fall Festival and I got a chance to meet many neighbors who made me feel welcome. The property is very clean and very quiet. I sincerely recommend South Terrace for your next home because I am proud and honored to call South Terrace my retirement home.

Mice!!! I stayed here two years. First year was good, had no issues. Mid into the second year a mice got into my apartment! I saw it twice. I don't know if it was the same one or two different ones. My neighbor above me saw it in hers too. I had nasty mice droppings all over my apartment. It chewed up my kitchen towels and chewed up things in my daughter's room. I still shudder sometimes thinking about it. I reported it to the rental office several times and online. They didn't seem to care like this was normal or something. I was so happy when my lease was up at the end of the year and I hurry up and got out of there. I would not recommend moving here unless you don't mind sharing your apartment with mice!!!
I lived at South Terrace for a year in the Three bedroom, three bath apartment. I loved the layout of the apartment I lived in. However, the maintenance is the WORST! If you need a change out the lights in the kitchen they literally take 2-3 weeks to come out and change them. (Those lights were not the regular bulb, but it was a long strip of light, and it was at least a 8 foot ceiling so there was no way for me to change them without calling them) And when we moved in when we had our walk through, I found a couple of holes in the upstairs and downstairs bedroom. Of course make sure you take pictures of every single thing. Also there is a lot of crime that occurred in this area when I lived here. There was a shooting a few buildings down from where I lived, also people drive in the apartment complex like they have no sense at all. And that gym.. HORRIBLE!! The AC only works 2% of the time, if you like a really hot gym with machines that work half the time, then this is perfect! I am a runner and was excited to try the treadmills here... stopped working half way during my run. Very very dangerous. Anyways the layout is nice the price is nice, everything else not so much! I did move to one of their sister properties as soon as my lease was up, and let me tell you its like night and day!
I have felt very safe here even when I come in late at night. The office personal are always helpful and answer my questions. The new furnishings are really nice.
Pros - apartment is spacious.
Cons -New maintenance crew is unskilled, unprofessional, and rude. Two men come to fix one problem. That is when they finally come. The new office staff has no managerial experience. They become rude when you try to make sense out of what they tell you. The community was recently purchased. New owners have brought new problems. Security gate doesn't work. Security system in apartment has been broken for two years. Strange as this sounds the exterminator brings the bugs out. The list goes on.
