Long Island University was initially founded at the Brooklyn campus in 1926 at the former Brooklyn Paramount Center. LIU was chartered by the New York State Education Department with the mission of providing affordable and quality education for a diverse range of students in and around Long Island. LIU also has graduate facilities in Brentwood, Riverhead and Rockland in addition to Westchester.
