Iona College resides in the metropolitan suburb of New Rochelle, New York, approximately 20 miles north of New York City. Affiliated with the Congregation of Christian Brothers within the Roman Catholic Church, Iona College houses two main schools: the School of Arts and Sciences and the Hagan School of Business, where students living in college housing and student apartments have access to a variety of studies in journalism, mass communication, psychology, accounting, marketing, and business management. Additionally, the Hagan School of Business has been named by several publications, most notably the Princeton Business Review and BusinessWeek Magazine, as one of the best undergraduate business schools.
In 1989, Iona College merged with the Elizabeth Seton College in nearby Yonkers. The school was named one of the best national institutes of higher education by U.S. News & World Report and the Princeton Review in 2009 and 2008 respectively.
Student living at Iona College consists of a mixture of social clubs and organizations, Greek life, and the Iona College Gaels' NCAA Division I athletic programs. Attractions in New Rochelle include the historic Leland Castle, Trinity-St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and numerous social clubs located along the waterfront. The school was also the first college in the New York area to go completely wireless starting in 2001.
