Located in the neighborhood of Jamaica in Queens, York College was founded in 1966 and become the first senior college to be developed within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. The CUNY Board of Higher Education originally named the school Alpha College, but it was changed to York College by president Dumont Kenny. York College is comprised of three smaller schools, the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business & Information Systems and the School of Health & Behavioral Sciences.
