Originally known as the College of the Southwest, the school's board of trustees elected to change its name to the University of the Southwest to show just how far the school had come since it was founded in 1962. The beautiful rural campus is set against the gorgeous landscape of Hobbs, New Mexico, and offers plenty of university living options. While the student population is just over 300, the University of the Southwest is growing by leaps and bounds and will offer scholars a wonderful student living experience that is informed by Christian teachings.

The institution offers an expansive list of majors in both undergraduate and graduate levels that are split into the School of Business, School of Education and the School of Arts and Sciences.
