All about

St John's College, NM

Founded in 1696 and officially chartered in 1784, Saint John's College (then known as King William's School), is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the U.S - but that's only one of the school's many unique aspects. Though it was initially chartered in Annapolis, Maryland, the college expanded student living to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1964, due to a sharp increase in the number of qualified applicants. Since then, student housing in the Santa Fe area has allowed students to investigate Saint John's College's non-traditional curriculum while absorbing the natural wonders that surround the secluded Santa Fe campus.

Student living at Saint John's College is distinguished by its unusual curriculum, known as the Great Books Program. Under this educational system, students read, discuss and analyze philosophical, religious, historical, mathematical, scientific and literary works from Western writers. Under this system, students may only earn a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, a master's degree in Liberal Arts, or a master's degree in Eastern Classics, which applies a similar curriculum to Eastern texts. With such a focus on the liberal arts, the school welcomes scholars with a wide range of academic interests to student housing at Saint John's College.

Off campus housing opens a new range of opportunities for Saint John's students. A college apartment near the school positions students adjacent to the Pecos Wilderness and Sangre de Cristo Mountains - a perch that offers a sprawling few of the Santa Fe cityscape and Los Alamos to the west.
