Warning- do not rent here if you're looking for a long term commitment. I've rented here for 5 years and have seen countless people come and go with the same complaints- there's never consistent staff in the office (new property manager at every turn), rodent issue which never seems to be rectified, and they've recently decided to upheave the established landscaping in lieu of probably the most hideous infant rose bushes I've ever seen. The evergreen bushes that were blocking the crawl space under the apartments and the unsightly electric boxes were removed and replaced with nothing...... My only thought could be that the decision maker knew they COULD and had no considered if they SHOULD. The charm of Nieuw Amsterdam has long since worn off and naturally, the price has gone up to the point where I can't justify staying any longer. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This will be my last year here.
Every apartment should be allowed 1 assigned parking spot at no charge. I am the only person living in my apartment and sometimes I work odd hours and cannot find a parking spot anywhere near my building. This is usually due to neighbors' friends/family visiting and taking the spots. I should not have to pay extra for 1 spot while other apartments take up multiple spots with multiple cars.
Because I don't have a washer or dryer, I always need to use the laundry facility. And to wash and dry 2 loads, I need 24 quarters. Having a change machine ,in my opinion, is essential as I struggle to make sure I have those 24 quarters. Also, it's essential to have a newsletter that is accessible to everyone for when someone needs service or they are new in the area and need some info about the school system for instance. Also would be beneficial for the lost and found situations.
The maintenance team needs to be more timely. The rent can be a little cheaper
Community events! Get people put into the park area for a social hour, I have no idea who my neighbors are
