The front desk staff is fantastic, and building is generally clean. However, maintenance is quite poor. For example, the heat pump for the jacuzzi on the terrace was broken the whole summer, I've had broken-vacuum windows in my apartment that haven't been replaced for four months now, to the point that there's an inch of standing water inbetween the window panes now. There were a couple of minor issues too where the quality of repairs was subpar, so it's disappointing.
The quality of the building/construction is terrible. The windows and insulation are so bad that, in the winter, to heat our 750 sq. ft. apartment to just 65 degrees, we pay an average of $300/month in electricity. In addition, things are always falling apart, paint is always falling off the ceiling, the wood floor gives us splinters, we've had to replace our refrigerator twice, etc. Moreover, the management office practices questionable tactics (or, as we suspect, is forced to effectuate them).
My overall satisfaction has been good at The Gotham. Would have been Excellent, only if the building would be converted into a smoke-free building, and include this rule as part of the lease that smoking should not be allowed inside the apartment.
front desk is good
windows leaks cold air in winter
I have to seal the deck under the window to insulate
Front desk staff is amazing. Frequent elevator issues and daily hassle of dealing with construction trying to get to path are irritating.
