The reviews listed here are not true!! The gym was not even finished until almost a year after the building was built. The rooftop has a bunch of dead flowers and plants and the community room is not finished. The walls are paper thin you can hear everyone walking through the hallway and my neighbors on the phone and the elevator is always breaking! The ceilings are unfinished, everything used to build inside the apartment is cheap and they don't even have parking(you have to pay $125 a month for a lot off the property). You have to HOUND them to fix anything + even when they do come, they are busy fixing other things and take 4-5 hours to do a simple job. Moving out as soon as my lease is up.
Looking for safe and peaceful environment
Our experience at Essence has been very enjoyable. Weve been among the first ones who moved in when the building was still being finished.
Reading the review that many people wrote just made us laugh so much. It seems like many thought they were moving to Beverly Hills, some reviews are biased. Weve met some former tenants who moved out because of some silly reasons, but the problem was not about the units, the problem was them being extremely entitled. We have never experienced anything like others were complaining about. Of course, we had some little things about our unit that we had to discuss with the management, this is normal when you moved into a new building, however, the management took care of our request and made sure that we were satisfied with what were paying for. For example, our washer and dryer were not delivered as soon as we moved in and the management team allowed us to use one in an empty unit for free. Yes, some details in the units could have been done in a better way, however when we asked to tare care of some little things, everything was done in a timely manner. The location is East Orange, its not the fanciest place, but the building is very nice. Our unit is super bright, we have a beautiful New York view, we have a 24/7 gym upstairs, 24 hour security, a beautiful lounge and a concierge. We also have a washer and dryer in the unit which is a real luxury. The train station is literally in a 5-min walking distance and the train takes you straight to Manhattan in pretty much 20 minutes. We totally disagree with some of the reviews that weve seen because our stay is great, our neighbors are nice (mostly young professionals) and between amenities and the units, were happy to live here.

At Essence, we want to go beyond traditional 'luxury rentals' and revolutionize modern living. We took an abandoned brick building, kept the existing architecture, and designed around in to create a structure that's all clean lines and gorgeous curves and that's not even the best part.
NJ Transit Brick Church station takes you to NY Penn in 25 minutes, and its namesake house of worship is just a 5-minute walk from Essence...need we say more?
