I went in person to hand in the application. A few days later they called me stating that I could get a 2 br for $987 but had to run my background check which is normal when trying to move into an apt. The background check costs $50. I was excited because they had told me that the waiting list was up to a year for these affordable housing. I only wish they wouldve told me that if i didn't have good credit I would not be able to get the apartment. Needless to say I was not approved and was told to reaapply when my credit score was better or if I could get a guarantor that makes 4xs the rent AND had a good credit score. I guess it didnt matter that Ive been living at my current 2 bedroom apt that cost $1200 (started off at the 1110) for the past 4 years (which shows Im reliable with paying my rent). So if you dont have the good credit dont bother. They also said you could appeal the decision. I wrote a letter and went to the office to hand it in person. Raven was speaking to a gentleman and told him there was apts available and would receive a phone call back. When I entered and gave her my appeal letter she asked the reason for my denial. After I explained it was due to my credit, she stamped my appeal letter and put it on top of a pile of papers and told me just because you appealed the decision doesnt mean theyll just overturn their decision and give you an apt. There isnt any apts FOR YOU ANY WAY. Then further explained that I would have to wait until the summer maybe and would need a co-signer who has good credit and makes 4xs the monthly rent (I make enough which is why I was given a call back in the first place). If I would be denied automatically then I dont see why they stated I could appeal their decision. Very discriminatory...
The apartments are filled, they say there are 5 available for marketing to fill their waitlists. Look elsewhere.
Very nice apts, great price well worth it
