What Renters Like and Dislike

What Renters Like and Dislike About Derry

What I like most about living in my neighborhood is the community itself. The schools are strong. The local business are very supportative.

I don't believe there is anything unique about my neighborhood. It is remote in that it is not in the downtown area so you cannot walk to a store or restaurant. But Church is just 10 minutes away, grocery stores 15-20 minutes away, doctor offices 15-20 minutes away.

I like the trees, neighbors, quiet traffic, and the fact that we are convenient to shopping.

I really enjoy going to dinner with friends. I enjoy getting my nails done at polished boutique. I also enjoy walking my dog on the rail trail.

It is close to different types of stores and restaurants. There are lakes and streams in the area for fishing and trails for walking.

I have very nice neighbors. There are nice walking areas. The neighborhood feels safe. We have friends in our neighborhood.

All About

Living in Derry, NH

Derry, a small city in New Hampshire, has a population of approximately 22,000. The city's population, at an average age of just under 39, skews younger than most cities in New Hampshire. By a slim 54%-46% margin, homeowners are slightly more prevalent than renters in Derry. With an average rent of $1,179/month, exceeding the state average by $93/month, relatively high rent costs could be a contributing factor in the higher levels of ownership.

In addition, 14% possess a Bachelor's degree and 5% have earned a Master's degree or Doctorate. Many Derry residents work in one of three industries: retail, manufacturing, and healthcare. Combined, these industries account for 26% of the labor force in the city. Meanwhile, looking at job function, many residents work in sales, which ranks as the top field in the city. Derry workers earn an average annual income of about $74K, roughly the same as the New Hampshire average. The city's average income also is fairly average compared to the national level of $73,345.

With an average commute time of about 34 minutes, longer than most cities in the state, Derry residents find that it takes some patience getting to work. Many residents (52%) commute to work by car or truck, while public transit isn't extensively used. Few residents walk to work.
