I lived at Breakers for less than two months in November 2015. I moved in at the beginning of the month, and by Thanksgiving I had no hot water. I lived with no hot water for several weeks while the staff tried to figure out what the problem was. In the first week of December they informed me that a hot water pipe below the floors had burst and was the cause of not having any hot water.


The front desk lady informed me that "these are old apartments, and we're familiar with this kind of problem" and told me it would take about 2 weeks to tear up the floors and fix the pipes. Due to it being the Holidays, they informed me they could not fix the problem until after Christmas.


I had been in the unit less than a month and they had no other units available for me to move into. On Christmas morning I found around 6ft of mold in the apartment along the floors and on the walls behind some of my unpacked boxes. I immediately put in notice that I would not be taking them up on their offer of staying in a hotel with my two pets, and broke the lease.


It doesn't end there unfortunately. Not only did they charge me $800+ for cancelling the lease 10 months early, they charged me for the damage to the carpets from their leaky pipes causing mold to grow through the floors! THE FLOORS THEY HAD TO TEAR UP TO FIX THE LEAKY PIPES.


Avoid this place at all costs. The management will act friendly and bubbly to lure you into this trap, but you'll be the one paying for their old apartments to get renovated.
