I love my apartment here but the biggest problem is the tenants who do not follow the rules. A lot of their problems here seem to come from within as nothing changes. And things have to get bad before they will address them.
Loved my apartment at Grandview. When I come back to St. Louis I will definitely be renting from there again. The apartments are super nice and they are still renovating and upgrading everything. Very homey feel to the building!
I've lived at Grandview for 5 years. I moved here with hesitation as the property was kind of run down and had unsavory people it seemed, but it was so convenient to the schools that I stayed. This new company called the Wellington Group took over the property and has changed it tremendously. They have redone the whole building, the parking lot, the courtyard, the units, and got rid of the unsavory people. The staff is great and they have 24 hour maintenance. This place went from a NO STAR to a FOUR STAR in my book! I will be staying here for a long time.
This is the kind of place where when something breaks, they simply put up signs "out of order" for weeks and nothing is really done to make sure residents are not inconvenienced. When the garbage chutes breaks, they simply put up a sign "throw your garbage outside". This is a 17-floor building and about 300 units with only few washing machine working. So, figure out what kind of management you're dealing with if you live here.
The apartments are small, closet space almost non-existent. The heating/AC is iffy at best, but at least you can supplement with space-heaters in the winter. Because it's an old and renovated building, apartments are ganged together vertically, making maintenance difficult. The building manager has no people skills and prefers to blame the tenants for the building's bed-bug problem. However, I've found the rest of the staff extra helpful, so just avoid him and you'll do well. Good for the price point, if you're a minimalist.
