Terrible management. Don't expect a security deposit back, they took $400 of mine for "utilities" which included gas. I lived in an electric unit...when I called the leasing office about it they said the information about extra charges was in page 8 of my lease. The problem is they never gave me pages 1-8. Now all I want is to make sure it doesn't happen to the next person. Beware.
Survival Guide: the good, the bad...
We've lived here for about 2 years, & we think we will move as soon as our lease is up. Pros: *Cheap rent for the area, though current residents' rent increases by $50-100, at renewal. *Pro: Close to public library, major highways, Parkway Schools, YMCA, and Westport Plaza Maryland Heights Community Center. *3 pools, 24 hr safe laundromat, & exercise room. The gym is amazing, I love I can work out while our clothes dry. Cons: *Not pet friendly. No sidewalks & the adverrised dog park was not delivered as promised. Pet rent is high- over $20 per pet, per month, on top of pet deposits and any potential damage charges. *Lots of maintenance issues including: flooding, leaky roof, water damage, bubbling ceiling, and broken appliances. *I was highly disappointed that appliances are from the 1970's & 80's. The "unrenovated" apartment to save over $40 per month. The "renovated" apartments feature appliances from 1990s in black. The dishwasher kept flooding, my oven burned food at 100 degrees. Plus side, it was eventually replaced after repeated visits. *Maintenance requests: While I have had some good experiences, we've had constant issues with them not correctly fixing an issue the 1st time. I am highly dissatisfied. Our airconditioner broke during a heat wave, it took over a week to fix it. We've had flooding and leaking. Issues not fixed right the 1st time, so we repeatedly had to call management until fixed. *Noise easily travels, and the walls are very thin. * Litter, chicken bones, and broken beer bottles seen regularly on grounds and parking lot. Some improvement in clean up. Still, look at the ground for glass before you park your car. *Safety: In BH Apt living, you may experience your neighbors disrupting the peace or other issues, and/ or see the police regularly. Leasing reluctant to assist. Pro: The financial planning series was a great idea and so was the end of year pool party. Good luck as you search for your new home!
