The College of Idaho, founded in 1891, is a liberal arts school that offers a wide variety of majors, including the popular choices - Business, Management, Marketing, Psychology, Biology and more. The higher learning institution enrolls about 1,034 students each year, so class sizes are small and students are encouraged to get to know the professors and other staff members of the college.
Students can expect to form close friendships with their professors and classmates, as the college boasts a student to teacher ratio of just 12 to one and the majority of classes have fewer than 20 students. Roughly half of the students enrolled here live on campus, while the other half choose to find an off campus apartment. Some students choose to participate in fraternities or sororities as well.
Whether they prefer off campus living or dorm life, students are encouraged to take part in the many different clubs and athletic teams offered by The College of Idaho. There is a student-run newspaper, bike club, math club, fly fishing club, lacrosse teams, martial arts clubs, theater groups, photography groups and a number of education-based organizations as well.
Caldwell is about an hour and a half from the bustling capitol, Boise, so students can take a day trip to the city to get their fill of the urban environment. Caldwell itself offers 10 city parks, a skatepark and plenty of restaurants and shops. This smaller town is considered a part of the Boise metropolitan area, but student housing here provides a quieter environment than living in the heart of a big city.
