Home to a variety of educational institutions, Springfield, Missouri has become somewhat of a college town and offers a multitude of options for student housing. The institution, established in 1990, serves Spring field and thirteen surrounded public school districts. In 2011, Ozark Tech Community College had an enrollment of more than 15,000 students earning credit through one of the school’s academic programs. OTC offers Associate of Arts degrees, including a teaching program that covers the fist two years of classes one would take at a four-year institution. In addition, the school offers more than 20 Associate of Applied Science degrees, the most popular being Graphic Design Technology and Early Childhood Development. Student housing is available near each of Ozark Tech’s six learning centers where classes are taught.
Like many community colleges, OTC enrolls many commuter students who live in nearby off campus housing. Many college apartments are located near other colleges like Drury University and Evangel University, creating an environment that is conducive to student living. In addition, downtown Springfield offers a variety of cultural events, such as the annual Art Festival, and number of venues for country music.
