The location and layout are fantastic. The building is nice and modern with large rooms and the front desk ladies are amazing. Yet there are two downsides that will prevent me from staying. The first is the thin ceilings in my area. I don't want to speak for the whole building, but you have to become a heavy sleeper in some parts. The second is that there have been ongoing thefts. Within the first month my locked bike in the underground parking was stolen. There hasn't been much of a response to the continuing problem, so it is concerning.
I lived in Be for 3 years and when I moved in it seemed great but it quickly went downhill. The location was awesome, the concierge staff is incredible but the office is an absolute joke. There are 3 buildings on the property and only 1 office to care for all of them and there appears to be almost weekly office staff turnover. Property managers quit with no notice to the tenants, no one actually knows the policies and when there actually is an issue that you need to talk to a manager about good luck - they start and end before anyone with a 9-5 job could make it home to talk to them in person. As mentioned the location is great but it's really not worth having to deal with the office. They are a renter's nightmare.
- 24/7 gym is NOT available in Be. You can go in one of the other apartments but the Be gym doesn't open until 6 a.m.
- The outdoor common areas close at 10 p.m. Doesn't matter is you're just sitting quietly by the bonfire, you'll be told to go inside.
The 24 hour staff (all shifts, all staff) are outstandingly friendly! The first floor is always fresh and clean, the gym area is always maintained and the outdoor common/pool/grill area is always clean. I cannot wait to see once dead grass is replaced and the bright green surroundings will complete the fabulous landscape!
Everything is perfect except parking. We only have 1 underground spot but 2 cars. The one who parks above ground pretty much has to be home by 7pm on weekdays (and around 3pm on weekends) to get a spot in the lot. It would be fine if there were more street parking, but that's pretty full too most of the time.
Great location. On the greenway and close to Calhoun. At times parking can be very difficult to impossible.
Take off to wherever from the modern apartment community inspired by your active lifestyle. Think traffic-free. Walk to Lake Bde Maka Ska (Calhoun). Be Uptown, Minneapolis. In the heart of it all, but with the feeling of a tucked-away respite. Cyclists, kayakers, runners by day. Groovers, shakers, diners by night.
Hidden along the Midtown Greenway bike and walking path, Be @ Calhoun Greenway provides direct and quick access to Lake Bde Maka Ska. The natural corridor connects directly with downtown Minneapolis for a traffic-free commute. Right outside its doors is the Uptown commercial district which provides sophisticated retail, nightlife, shopping, entertainment and cultural options.
