The place itself is great, besides the heating/cooling never working properly. The thing that is making me leave is how residents are treated. I accidentally wrote my money order to the wrong name and was never notified. I had to find out by seeing my bill not paid for weeks. This happened on several occasions. I was also NOT notified that after 3 missed payments in a year, they can kick you out. NOT very professional and I will be making sure everyone I know won't be living at River Drive. Let's not forget when I called the Emergency # after the basement flooding and they let me know they'd be out right away! And they never came leaving the basement smelling like mold for months.
Ive also been at this place for almost 2 years. I have been parking in the same place my leasing manager told me to since day 1, when I moved in. Recently I have now received 2 parking tickets for not having the right permit. The leasing office is taking no responsibility for the $500 I have to cough up for their mistake of telling me I am allowed to park there with my permit hanging. OH and rent will keep going up every year , even with no renovations and all of this going on. Dont EVER live here.
I have lived here almost a month now and it has been the most disappointing apartment experience I have had to date. The units are poorly maintained inside, the AC that is supposedly provided rarely has worked (maybe half the time) and when working barely cools the apartment. The staff is friendly and moving in was easy enough to set up. This could be a really nice place to live with better management and maintenance staff. Truly unfortunate. Also, there is a 100 administration fee tacked on to your move in costs that is not talked about at all, its in the fine print of the documents you sign online. Just FYI.
Summary: The AC units are old and they don't work well or at all. Management will ignore you about any request to fix them and lie to you saying they work fine but they're old and there is nothing they can do.
If you don't mind having no A/C in the summer, then other than that this place is average. Well they have a bunch of ants to but you'll get used to them.
When I first moved to River Drive in the summer of 2015 it wasn't a half bad place. And the free heat/ A/C was a pretty big reason I decided to live there as opposed to a newer complex in Ann Arbor. Things were great for about a year. That's where the good news ends.
The summer of 2016 was incredibly warm with several 90 degree days. It's also when the air conditioning units in my entire building went out. I figured not a big deal. I'll just submit a work order and they'll take care of it. However, when I called to submit one they said they were aware of it and they had a guy coming in to look at it in a week. It being 90 degrees I thought this was ridiculous but what could I do. Called a week later they said it was fixed. It wasn't. The whole building was still out. Talked to all my neighbors and confirmed this. Called them back and they said the contractor said it was fine so it's fine. Long story short they never fixed the Air conditioning units that summer. Never kept us updated never responded to requests to fix it. At this point we had already signed a new lease before the A/C went out so we had to stay here for another year.
Fast forward to the summer of 2017. It's currently 88 degrees outside and humid. I called to have them fix the air conditioning. They said it was working and that a maintenance man had just checked the building this morning and it works fine. I insisted on telling Laura that this was not the case and that it was 80 degrees in my apartment when I left for work at 7 am that morning. With all 3 A/C units running. The blinds closed and several fans running. So, she sent
