Spring Arbor University, MI

Spring Arbor University was established in southern Michigan in 1873 by leaders of the Free Methodist Church. Today, student living recalls these routes with required chapel services twice weekly, though the school has changed in innumerable other ways. Over the past two decades, Spring Arbor has begun degree completion programs for adult learners, developed degrees, in several health-related fields and introduced graduate education. In addition, student housing is now available near the university's main campus in Spring Arbor, Michigan, as well as near extension sites in Bettle Creek, Bay City, Centerville, Flint, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Howell, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Detroit, Toledo, Niles, Petoskey, Traverse City and Troy. With such expansion, SAU has become the largest Evangelical Christian university in the state, and a popular choice among both undergraduates and graduate students.

Today, approximately 1,775 undergraduates and 1,291 graduate students enroll at Spring Arbor University, and many elect to reside in off campus housing near one of the school's learning centers. SAU offers more than 70 undergraduate majors at its Spring Arbor campus, as well as Elementary Teacher certification in conjunction with nearby community colleges. Among its regional campuses, the university offers five on-site Master's programs, in Business Administration, Family Studies, Education, Management, and Counseling. In addition, nearly 1,200 degree completion students were enrolled as of 2010, living in off campus housing.

The school's main campus is located along Spring Arbor's Main Street, where students can rent a university apartment. Much of off campus housing is located in the tranquil neighborhood that surrounds the campus, just north of Lime Lake and flanked by the conveniences of the community's downtown district. The population of the town reaches just more than 2,000 residents, creating a peaceful area that allows for a relaxing and manageable student living arrangement.
