River Oaks West

As a current tenant, I would NOT recommend living here. Its excessively expensive, no true amenities that make this place worth $2,100+ per month for a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom. Power goes out constantly (especially during winter storms), it takes FOREVER to get serviced from Consumers Energy & DTE Energy. I am going on 4 days without having electricity. My apartment is freezing at 48, and all the River Oaks West staff has to say is sorry for the inconvenience, with zero ETA of electricity being turned back on (check the photos from the response by staff). Its not like I dont have thousands of dollars of electronics inside of this apartment and an entire livelihood here. There is NO true security in the complex, other than a front gatehouse, which just makes it hard to get deliveries in the evenings. Kids are constantly running around and vandalizing items, and causing mischief. Snow maintenance is very poor, especially on the sidewalks and driveways up-to the garages. Its always very slippery because of the ice, Ive seen multiple delivery drivers almost fall trying to delivery packages. Parking is always poor, too many vehicles with little area to park. There are MANY higher quality places to live that are CHEAPER (in Novi) and within other local communities. Please, do not decide to live here, you will regret as I am now.

positive things about the complex: - Maintenance is timely, Nicely maintained grounds, If you get the right apartment, beautiful views of the lakes, Nice Pool area.-that's it. First year, 2020: Some review sites list game rooms, movie theater, business center, storage units, sunrooms, eat-in kitchen, mud room, island kitchen and green houses...they do not have any of that. Also, since its inside Novi School district, they have inflated the rent by almost $1000 dollars above Novi averages, depending on your apartment choice! Since moving in, we have had to deal with inadequate parking. IF you have an apartment that allows garage use, you will only get ONE space and the other side is for other tenants. Some apartments do not get any garage at all. We continually have to shuffle cars with neighbors and guests that often block garage access and utilize the limited spaces in front of our apartment. Sometimes we end up parking across the street (or down the street) because we have no space in front of our own apartment! Also, if you have a large suv or car and the neighbors too, its a tight fit inside the garage almost to point of not even bothering to occupy it. Inside the apartment they have updated certain items nicely but its showing its age with structural cracks and very poor wiring (we cannot have certain appliances plugged into sockets and others in DIFFERENT rooms or it trips the sockets) also most windows do not shut completely. The appliances are dated and there are no ceiling fixtures so be prepared to bring your own lights. Since moving we have had a pretty consistent issue with spiders in the apartment. A mention about the grounds: They DO NOT do snow removal! You must shovel your own drive and parking spaces. Only the streets are plowed. The plows show up 1 or 2 days after the snow. There is also a centralized garbage bin that all tenants use that often overflows and there is no recycling option!

Noisy and disrespectful neighbors are not held accountable. Rent is too high to tolerate intentional and disrespectful noise after 9p on a daily basis.

Absolutely beautiful Complex Jamie the manager knew what we needed the grounds are beautifully kept the trees are beautiful very well maintained. The upgraded apartments are beautiful we have lived in many beautiful high rises and homes we are new here it was extremely difficult to find a beautiful upgraded place in Michigan with a garage. We have a beautiful view the amenities are fantastic we love our place and our fireplace we wanted and could not find in many apartments here. Jamie the manager works fast everyone was very nice were impressed with the professionalism and kindness we needed this.

With an experienced property management company River Oaks could be great. Family run businesses carry the highest risks. All to often emotions govern ones practical decision making ability. Hands down, the worst costumer service I've ever encountered. The manger on site was bitter and unapprochable on her best days. And down right inappropriate to my wife and I on more then one occasion. It's unfortunate, the owner isn't more involved in this business venture.

Beautiful Property. The remodeled Kitchen and Bathrooms are outstanding! The amenities are the best in the area.
