I have to say Im very impressed with the whole process from the time I walked in to get information on Portsmouth apartments to being walked through the application process. There is nothing more annoying than when you dont know what youre doing and the staff has made it very easy.
Giving this apartment community 1 star is too much. The water is an ongoing issue at Portsmouth. I wish I would have looked further into the reviews before moving here. After researching, I discovered that brown water and water shut offs has been a theme for this community since 2014-2015.The water is shut off very frequently. If not once a month then every other month. The property manager compared her a/c issues with her home to the water issues with the apartment community. Correct me if I'm wrong but a/c doesn't make a home uninhabitable. Having no water does. There are multiple notices sent out about the water. Multiple "emergent" water issues. I had an incident where I was in the shower and the water turned brown. The only thing I was offered was an apology. I do not recommend this apartment community to anyone. I'm sure there's some truth to all the negative reviews. I strongly suggest reading the bad reviews to every community before deciding which community to call home.
I lived here at Portsmouth Apartments between July, 2016 to March 2018. I really enjoyed my stay here. Very friendly leasing staff and prompt maintenance. I cannot remember having any complaint during my stay here. They have a nice club house with a swimming pool that is full of life in the summer. I only wish I could have stayed there longer as it was my sweet home for a good 20 months. I wouldn't have left if not for the change in employment. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good place to call home. Quite place for the most part except for the occasional sound cause by movements in the apartment above.
This is this worst apartment Ive ever lived in. The appearance is nice from the outside and inside, but after about a week of living there I couldnt wait for my lease to be up. The leasing office has no communication, I was called several times saying they dont have a copy of my key and they need me to stop by so they can make a copy. Also was called a few times about my green sheet (for prior damages) needing to be completed after I already turned it in. When we first moved in Mindy, that works in the leasing office who showed us our place said wow I cant believe they didnt replace your carpet yet we were charged for it when we moved out. We only got half our deposit back because of carpet that should of been replaced before we even moved in, due to it being in horrible shape. Our water was my biggest complaint. I have several pictures of our water in the toilet and sinks where it literally looks like urine. When you call and complain they do literally nothing and just tell you to run the bathtub for 15 minutes (which doesnt fix the problem because its just bad water) they continuously shut the water off and only tell you half the time when its going to be shut off. I came home from work several times and the water is mud brown. My clothes would feel awful after doing my laundry and I refused to cook or brush my teeth with it. When you pay rent THEY CHARGE YOU A SERVICE FEE! Absolutely ridiculous since they already charge way to much for rent. There was very limited parking. Almost everyday I had to park at other buildings due to all the assigned parking that you have to pay extra for. In the coldest part of winter our heat went out 3 times. The maintenance guy who fixed it finally told me it was because the furnace was extremely dirty and needed to be cleaned, which if you look at the list of the route maintenance that they claim they do, that should be done regularly which it clearly wasnt.
If anyone is looking for an honest review, ignore the other 2 with 5 stars. I was living there at the time and the reviews online were so low that they had a resident contest to win $100 off rent for 1 month for a good review. Read elsewhere for reviews...all the ones that mention how horrible the water is are speaking the truth. Renter beware
