This place is a joke
After a year of talking to the office staff multiple times of numerous repairs that were not being addressed and multiple arguments with staff members who are rude and negate any issues you have with the apartment we broke our lease and gave our 30 days. The last time maintenance came into my home (it was two younger guys) they fixed the light fixture that mind you just fell from the ceiling, fixed the disposal, and put the face of a cabinet back onto the sink (also just fell off.) And left. We also called for 2 closet doors off of the hunges, a fridge repair, the window in my son's room that has a HUGE gap in the actual frame (So, our air & heating bill in this unit has gotten up to $300 before.) And the carpet needing to be either removed and replaced or something because nails randomly come up through the floor and my husband, son and I have all stabbed our foot on one. The toilet consistently runs and they have had someone in hear to "tinker" with it twice yet it has never been fixed. There's a huge hole in a wall from when our shower was replaced 2 years ago, and you can follow that nightmare on my Google review. maintenance came back two months (or more) later with the fridge repair. So, because all of these repairs have been negated, I asked that maintenance come in while we are home so that we can make sure they are done so that we do not get sued or charged for anything. I also said this because the time that the two yoinger men came into my house, my wedding ring went missing. It was on an end table right next to my 2 year anniversary ring. The wedding ring was gone and we ripped the apartment from top to bottom trying to find it. I told my husband that I knew that they took the ring but we felt like we had no proof. So, when I made a maintenance request I wanted one of us to be here. I told him they needed to come while one of us was home and he would not do it that way, and would only come in 24-48 hours and if that is not good enough he will cancel the
Perry place repeatedly ignored my every inquiry sent. Not even a courtesy"we'll get back to you" response! As if they couldn't be bothered. I requested information on 4 separate occasions.
I have lived in Perry Place for a little over two years. We originally rented a 1 bedroom ground floor apartment. The space was small but the rent was cheap (440/month). Didn't experience too many problems with the apartment itself, but the A/C in the building was not central, but rather an in-the-wall unit. Therefore, it was useless to run since you had to manually turn it on and off and it was not worth it.
We recently moved in to a new building which is quite bigger than the other unit, and still relatively cheap compared to apartments in the area (530/month). This unit has been much better quality, as carpet was replaced before we moved in along with the stove and dishwasher (I suppose we got lucky on that end).
The management staff at Perry Place is usually excellent. Most of the workers know me by name and are extremely friendly when I come in. Some of the workers you can tell are not as friendly or interested in helping, but the majority are helpful and pleasant.
The biggest flaw at Perry Place is its maintenance. The maintenance is TERRIBLE. If your issue is not "pressing," it can take several days before someone shows up. Here is a couple examples of my maintenance interactions:
1. Called for after-hours maintenance because our refrigerator had a small pool of water on the floor. Worker comes and checks a few things on the fridge before saying that it "just does that" and there was nothing they could do. *Fridge still creates this pool of water weeks later, but if they want mold then I guess they get mold! After all, "there is nothing they can do to fix it..."*
2. Called for after-hours maintenance because our ceiling in the bathroom was leaking. Worker came out, couldn't find any reason for it to be leaking, said it was the exhaust fan and that it "just does that." Called 4 separate times after that before it was finally determined there was a leak in the upstairs sink pipe. They cut out nearly the entire ceiling in the bathroom and took over
Stove that was in my apartment when i moved in looked like something that you would expect to see at goodwill or on the side of the road when its a garbage day. Spoke with the manager twice about replacing it - no response. Moved out, now they are charging me for damages to the stove. If you are looking for problems, loud neighbors, cigarette smoke in your apartment, then this is the place for you
