One of the few specialized academic institutions offering graduate degrees in psychoanalysis in the world, Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis (BGSP) was initially established in 1973 in order to train students to understand deeper parts of the mind. Thirty-five years later, the BGSP now offers unique one-year programs that requires no previous training in any other profession - opening the field of psychoanalysis to a wide range of students. Today, the school also boasts two campuses in Boston and New York.
According to its stated mission, "BGSP is committed to providing high quality psychoanalytic education, clinical training and research to a diverse student community. We prepare our graduates to apply their understanding of emotional and mental functioning to endeavors that benefit individuals and society."
Those living in student housing or an off campus apartment at BGSP have access to the school's distinguished academic programs and fields of study. Students may earn graduate and doctoral degrees such as Master of Arts in Psychoanalysis, Master of Arts in Psychoanalytic Counseling, Master of Arts in Psychoanalysis & Culture, Doctor of Psychoanalysis and Doctor of Psychoanalysis in Psychoanalysis & Culture. Certificates are also available through the school.
Student living and university living at BGSP provide students with unique professional and research opportunities and the chance to network with a diverse range of other students in the health and mental sciences at other Boston area schools. Students can also explore Boston landmarks and neighborhoods such as Back Bay, the North End, Boston Common, Fenway Park, the Charles River and the Prudential Center.
