Actually I really like Summit Hills. I'd applied for the high rise and when I saw it in person, I loved it. The high rise is very chic. The apartment is very nice, comfortable, chic and within the pocketbook budget. This place is closer to my job in DC. The best thing about this building is every floor has its own wash/dry room and its safe.

I strongly recommend NOT moving into the Summit Hills apartment complex. Though you will be hard pressed to find a cheaper living arrangement this close to DC, it is definitely not worth the headache. We have been treated extremely unfairly by multiple staff members in our three years here, most recently when we needed to break our lease early because of my husbands job. We were assured multiple times by our resident manager that we would not have to pay a penalty because my husband is a civilian with the military. Once we had already signed a new lease somewhere else, we were told this information was incorrect, causing us to have to pay rent in two places for the month of August. Management took responsibility for giving us incorrect information but did not offer to help in any way, even though it was 100% their mistake and cost us thousands of dollars. And this is not the worst thing that has happened. The pipes in these buildings are so old they are just waiting to burst and cause flooding or worse. The first night we spent in Summit Hills, there was a knock on the door from maintenance because they were afraid our air conditioning unit was leaking into the apartment below us. This happens ALL THE TIME. In our first apartment here, the bathroom floor caved in, causing the entire bathroom (the only one in the apartment) to have to be overhauled and leaving it unusable. Management offered to let us use the bathroom in a vacant apartment on another floor of the building. Thankfully, we insisted they offer something more reasonable, and we ended up staying in the model for a few days while the bathroom was repaired. When we moved to another building, a pipe burst in the middle of the night and both bedrooms and the hallway were covered in a few inches of water. This time, it was the weekend, so no one from management would even speak to us until Monday. And even then, they would not put us up in the model or anywhere else.
