This apartment complex looks really nice when you visit because they show you a completely updated unit that will rent for $1,900 a month. we thought that was the apartment we were moving into, however we got an outdated apartment with appliances that weren't working when we moved in and stained carpet on the floor. When asked this is the apartment they had that was $1,600. maintenance only works on emergency requests they don't work on anything they don't consider an emergency. it will take ages for them to get to you and fix it and then they will charge you for whatever fix had to get done in the apartment. They charge communal utilities on top of all the utilities you have to pay yourself. your responsible for all utilities except for water and sewer and they charge you communal utilities for gas and water. This bill won't be less than $70 a month and the kicker is that there are no communal spaces except for the gym and the leasing office. The gym and the leasing office are in one building so we are essentially paying to keep the leasing staff warm. this being said, the warmth from the leasing office transfers into the gym and makes it like a sauna at all times. Speaking of the gym, they have bottom line equipment and dumbbells that are only available through a checkout system. the checkout system is you go to the office upstairs and you ask for the dumbbell and you sign it out, you are only allowed one wait at a time so good luck doing sets that require multiple weights. They make a lot of aesthetic changes to the property but don't take residents seriously with their requests. If you have a noise complaint they won't listen to you. We have had complained about our neighbors upstairs for months and they still have done nothing although they keep reassuring us that they have in fact done something about it. The complex in itself is very noisy at all times especially on Sundays.
I am always impressed with the team when the weather is bad how well they work togeather they start cleaning while it is still snowing and when the snow stops they are still cleaning sidewalks no matter what time.
If you're looking for a community where people respect others out of common human decency, then this is a great complex to check out.
Ridgewood I is a great place to be. It is a safe and very clean community. It is accessible to the metro and other places. Apartment needs are met with great care and speed.
I was attracted to move to Ridgewood because of the nice location and amenities. It's close to a lot of shopping centers and it's a convenient place to be in when you work in the Rockville/Silver Spring area. The builidings have entry codes for extra security which is a plus. Maintenance also comes within 24hours of a service request. My only gripe about the community is that they changed their billing company to AUM which doubled/tripled my bill, and added more things to pay for like gas (which we are also billed by WSSC). It is also hard to contact them when you have questions like that. All in all, it is a nice community. They just need to figure out the billing, I guess.
