Morgan State University, MD

Morgan State University was founded in 1867 as an institution intended to train men for the ministry. It has come a long way in more than 145 years, and is now one of the premier historically black colleges and universities in the country. With a diverse academic catalogue and an ideal location in Baltimore, Maryland, a student living at Morgan State will certainly have an enjoyable college experience.

Throughout much of the latter half of the 1800s, Morgan State remained small. However, with a $50,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie, the school was able to expand its academic offerings in 1915, and today is home to around 6,400 students all working toward a wide variety of degrees.

Despite its humble beginnings, Morgan State University offers students a large number of academic paths. Scholars can choose from a broad spectrum of majors and minors, as the school operates nine different colleges including the School of Business and Management, College of LIberal Arts and the School of Engineering.

Whether they live in university housing or in an off-campus apartment, students have plenty of activities to take part in during their time at Morgan State. In addition to a sizeable Greek population and a diverse set of student groups, the school is also home to many successful athletic programs. Specifically, the school's men's basketball program has ascended to the NCAA Tournament several times.

Morgan State also offers its students access to one of the best cities in the East Coast - Baltimore. The city has something for everyone, whether they are a performing arts buff or would rather catch a baseball or football game.
