We pay a little over 2k per month in rent for a two bedroom with two bathrooms. One would think that upon moving in, we would have decent amenities, right? This was, unfortunately, not the case. Upon our move-in date (22 June, 2020) we found numerous issues with the upkeep of the unit, namely: The dishwasher wasn't functioning and it took a month to replace; there were damages to the several of the closet doors; both of the showerheads were rusted and disgusting; and there was an infestation of roaches and mice in our unit, that we still struggle with TO THIS DAY (3 June, 2021) as we have to buy mouse traps on a bi-weekly basis. We have easily killed over 50 mice since our move in. Secondly, we have had a couple of water damage issues from old pipes bursting in the ceiling above us, met with untimely maintenance resolutions. The first instance was around the end of November, in which we had large portions of the ceiling in our living room AND dining room sagging, open and dripping water everywhere. It took over two weeks to get the damage repaired, all the while we were living in damp and mildewy conditions with a perpetual musty stink. It took me weeks to get the smell out of the furniture and carpet. The second instance of water damage was acknowledged by maintenance, but was never followed up on or repaired. Water damage was from the upstairs neighbors and it leaked through the bathroom vent area near the dining room. It leaked brown water into the ceiling and pooled in the area around the light fixture in the hallway - where it still sits to this day (3 June, 2021). I am now in the process of moving out of the unit (our lease is up on 18 June, 2021) and there is no one in the office or anyone manning emails, ever. Stay away from this apartment company.

Living in ,

Did you know? When Gaithersburg was first settled in 1765, it was known as Log Town. This was changed to Forest Oak when a post office was built, and the area was not officially known as Gaithersburg until 1878, over 100 years later.

Overview of Gaithersburg

Gaithersburg is a quiet Maryland town close to the Virginia border, and it is considered a suburb of Washington, D.C. The city combines classic elements of an old city with new developments to provide rich diversity. The area has recently become a center of the technology industry, and there are employment opportunities with major international corporations including IBM, Lockheed-Martin and Sodexo.

Best of Gaithersburg

Check out some of Gaithersburg's finest offerings. There is a lot to like about Mediterranean food, and Mythos knows how to deliver the goods. The restaurant offers 30 varieties of wine, and the menu is to die for. Start with a butternut squash ravioli in a sage cream sauce, move on to broiled flounder stuffed with spinach and feta cheese, and top off the meal with a house-made lemon custard pie. Nothing spells romance like fondue, and The Melting Pot is America's premiere gourmet experience. The price tag is significant, which makes it an ideal destination for a romantic night you're sure to remember. Harris Teeter has everything a grocery store should: fresh produce, good cuts of meat, great bargains, friendly staff, convenient location and a customer loyalty program. There's something to be said for a sports bar with 44 TVs, a diverse menu and some of the biggest pizzas in the world. If you're looking for a night of beer and pizza with the guys, The Corner Pub is the perfect place.

Top 5 Gaithersburg Adventures

  1. Experience the attractions of the Washingtonian Center. Visit for the shopping, the dining, the playground or one of the many fun rides. There is something for everyone, and pets are welcome.
  2. Head to a cool place when it's hot out. The Water Park at Bohrer Park is the perfect place to take the family on a hot day. It offers a variety of water-based attractions, and outside food is allowed.
  3. Practice your swing. Mini golf can be a great way to spend the day, and the 18 courses at Gaithersburg Miniature Golf are lush and beautifully landscaped. The facility's proximity to the Water Park makes it convenient for an entire day of leisure.
  4. Experience a slice of history. Old Town Gaithersburg is your ticket to the past. The old Main Street centers around the historic train station, and many of the surrounding buildings, such as City Hall, date back 200 years. There are opportunities for shopping and dining to be had and plenty of sights to see.
  5. Exercise in style. Not everyone likes to exercise in a gym, and the Schaeffer Farms mountain bike trail provides a scenic experience for bicyclists. The trails are large, and there are paths for novices as well as more experienced bikers.
