Multiple maintenance issues. My living room has been out of commission for a week due to a water leak. They have not fixed it because the main could not be shut down. Now I have water coming through the ground with mold in my carpet and they do nothing to compensate. Go elsewhere is all I can say about this complex.
Not a good place to move especially after the new management took over. To start with - outside is not maintained well, lots of dog poop.. Multiple vehicles in parking stay in same place for weeks unattended.. had roaches, mold problem in apartment I stayed.. and Office/Maintenance staff enter without prior notice. I lost Items and had proof that they entered apartment without notice and their response was "They trust their guys and there was no proof of them taking anything from apartment".. It will be hard reaching them over phone.. sweet to talk to but things wont get done easily. Overall not worth staying especially with kids as closet doors come off easily and kids can get hurt.
Ive lived here for about 9 months now and its been going pretty good. The apartments are located in a really good area...in close proximity to everything. My only complaint is that the parking lot by my building is very dark and here lately parking has been scarce. But I dont have any other real complaints. There are a lot of kids in the complex so when the weather is nice, theyre out and about everywhere...having fun, making noise as kids do. Other than that its usually quiet. The apartments are older so theyre well built. I live on the second floor and rarely hear my neighbors other than the shower and normal walking around sometimes. For the most part, safety has not been an issue here. A cleaning company cleans the buildings common areas weekly which is a plus. And also the grounds are maintained well. Theyve just come under new management so well see if anything changes other than the price.
Quite, Clean, Safe, good neighbors, close to shopping malls and shopping centers, close to hospital and community college (HCC), close to Route 29 and Interstate 95 and Route 295. Good and Cooperative Resident management.
My living experience is wonderful. I have peace of mind. My neighbors seem very nice. The staff was excellent. Maintenance was very helpful and I love walking around in the community. Oh and the cookies are a plus too (smile) I definitely will continuously recommend The Berkshires of Columbia.
