All about

Baltimore Hebrew University, MD

Towson University's Baltimore Hebrew Institute, founded in 1919, was once a separate institution, but became a part of Towson University in 2009. Now BHI provides Towson student degrees that focus on Judaic studies from undergraduate to Master and doctoral programs. Undergrads can pursue Jewish Studies Minors, and graduate programs include Master of Arts in Jewish Studies, Jewish Communal Service and Jewish Education. The institute also demonstrates the Jewish value of seeking knowledge for the sake of learning by offering a variety of continuing education courses and events, such as Hebrew language courses and community lectures,

The school was originally located in downtown Baltimore, but was relocated to Towson, Maryland, about 20 minutes north of the city. This means that BHI students can look for off campus housing in the big city if they prefer to live in a more urban environment. Towson is much smaller than its neighboring city, but there's still plenty to do for those who choose to live in university housing or an off campus apartment in the area. There are also a number of public buses that run in Towson, so students can easily travel from their off campus housing to the college campus.

Students can spend the day window shopping at Towson Town Center, which is the largest indoor shopping mall in Baltimore County. When they have a free evening, they can check out local or national musical acts performing at the Receher Theater in downtown Towson. Sports enthusiasts will be able to cheer on the Towson Tigers at the Towson Center arena and the Unitas Stadium. Most TU games are free for students to attend.
