Colloquially known as one of the Little Ivies, Colby College is considered among the best liberal arts colleges in New England. The school's university housing is located in the small town of Waterville, Maine, which is the perfect setting for its rich academic tradition and diverse student body.

Colby College traces its roots back to a time before Maine was even a state. The school was founded in 1813 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but when Maine separated from the state in 1820, it took Colby with it. Since then, it has been at the forefront of liberal arts education.

Though its history is certainly impressive, a student living in or around Colby College has plenty to do. For starters, the school has a considerable athletic tradition. Known as the White Mules, there are 32 different varsity programs ranging from alpine skiing to their ever-popular women's hockey team.

Of course, Colby College has much more to offer than just sports.The school offers a wide variety of clubs as well. The most popular of them all is Colby Outing Club - and for good reason. With about 300 members each year, the club provides outings each week, from hiking to kayaking to skiing.

As for the town itself, Waterville has plenty to offer as well. Like many towns in southern Maine, Waterville provides students living in an off campus apartment with a combination of beautiful scenery mixed with a quaint-small town feel. With a population of around 15,700, it has also developed into one of the social, cultural and entertainment hubs of the region.
