Founded in 1902 by Presbyterian pastors Dr. Robert Lewis Dabney and Rev. Richmond Kelley Smoot, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (APTS) has been dedicated to educating and cultivating Christian ministers throughout the Southwest for more than a century. Today, APTS's influence has spread beyond Texas to include students of all backgrounds looking for quality Christian education from around the world.
APTS's stated mission is to "educate and equip individuals for the ordained Christian ministry and other forms of Christian service and leadership; to employ its resources in the service of the church; to promote and engage in critical theological thought and research; and to be a winsome and exemplary community of God's people."
Those living in student housing or an off campus apartment have access to APTS's excellent academic programs. Students may earn a degree in Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theological Studies or a Doctor of Ministry. The school's three main academic sections are the Theological-Historical Department, the Department of the Church's Ministry and the Biblical Department.
Student living and university living at APTS revolve primarily around the school's Christian student programs like the Methodist Student Group, Queer Alliance, Choir, Faithful Flyers, S.o.S. (Supporters of Seminarians) and the Holy Spirit Squad.
