Be prepared to pay extremely high utility bills in both winter and summer months. Winter electric bills are over $500-600 (This is after surveying more than a dozen other residents in the community and almost everyone is keeping their heat 65 or below and using plastic insulation wrapping on their windows). I did an online energy analysis with KU and the unit uses 60% more electricity than all similar sized apartments within a 0.1 miles radius. This is includes keeping apartment at 62 degrees. It's frustrating, because management wants to blame the high bills on the colder than normal January. I have spoken with several dozens of friends in the Lexington area regarding their utility bills. While theirs are also much higher for the month of January, their bills were ranging from $200-$450ish for homes ranging in sizes from 1800 - 3000 SF. In addition, management is extremely slow to repair building issues. My apartment has water leaking in through the ceilings and windows. First time, it took them almost 2 months to repair. Because of the length of time it took them to repair, mold grew on the ceilings and walls. The apartment is leaking again and we are going on 3 weeks without any resolution. They do not communicate status of repairs. There is again major mold problem both upstairs and downstairs from the leaks. I inquired about the status a week ago and the response was they were getting bids to repair the roof. It's frustrating that the management prioritizes saving money over a tenants health.
