Lexington Theological Seminary comes from very humble beginnings. It started in 1838 as the Department of Hebrew Literature at nearby Bacon College. However, soon after the department began to grow and by 1865, it started to resemble the seminary it is today. Now, more than 145 years later, it provides a quality religious education and university living experience to students from a wide variety of Christian denominations.

As a graduate school, Lexington Theological Seminary places a heavy emphasis on academic excellence. It offers a number of challenging and attractive degree programs including the Master of Divinity program, which is aimed to help those looking to pursue work in the Christian ministry after their student living days are over. There are also Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies and Doctor of Ministry programs available.

While Lexington Theological Seminary has a strong focus on studies and religious teaching, that does not mean student life stops.
