Jefferson Community and Technical College offers students the chance to earn associate's degrees, certificates and diplomas as well as earn credits to apply to a bachelor's degree at a four-year school. JCTC is the largest two-year college and technical school in Kentucky and one of the biggest schools in the Midwest. There are more than 300 programs for enrollees to choose from in a wide variety of academic and technical offerings. Professionals looking to advance their careers can take Workforce Solutions courses at JCTC as well.
There are six different JCTC campuses, and each offers a unique set of programs. The downtown campus, located in Louisville, has degree programs in Business, Social Sciences, Allied Health, Humanities, Nursing and Mathematics among other offerings. While JCTC has more than 15,000 students, they are spread out between the campuses, which keeps class sizes small. The college does not offer university housing, so students can participate in campus activities and clubs to get to know their peers.
The convenient location in Louisville makes it easy for enrollees to find student apartments near the Jefferson campus. The college is right in the heart of the city in the Downtown neighborhood, making it easily accessible from the many neighborhoods that make up Kentucky's largest city. The urban setting means students have access to all of the attractions Louisville has to offer, such as the Louisville Science Center, which has an IMAX theater. Many national musical acts come through the city all year long, so JCTC students can catch a live show to unwind after a week of classes and studying.
