With southern culture present around every corner, Centre College has been a staple in Kentucky since it was founded in 1819. Since then it has come to be known as one of the premier liberal arts institutions in the Blue Grass State, one of the oldest colleges west of the Allegheny Mountains and provides any student living there with a varied and enriching college experience .
Although it can trace its roots back to early part of the 19th century, Centre maintains a especially modern campus today. During the 1960s, the school added a number of new buildings and continued its expansion through 2005. In fact, its Norton Center for the Arts, which was built in 1973, hosted the 2000 Vice Presidential debate between Dick Cheney and Joe Lieberman.

In addition to its academic prowess, Centre College also offers plenty of student activities to make university living that much more fulfilling. Every year there are more than 2,000 events on campus for students to choose from, and with more than 100 clubs there is something for everyone.
