Manhattan Christian College, KS

Manhattan Christian College, founded in 1927, is deeply rooted in Christian beliefs and tradition, and students who attend MCC can expect all of their classes to reflect these values. The four-year institution only offers a handful of bachelor's degree programs that lead to different ministry specialties, including pastoral, family and cross-cultural ministries. Students can also expand their educations to include business management and ethics, or pursue bible and theology education as part of a five-year bachelor's program.

MCC places strong emphasis on community, and students are required to live in university housing for at least the first two years of their time at the school unless they are married, over 21 or have parents who reside in Manhattan. After the two-year period, individuals are able to seek off campus apartments in Manhattan. This small Kansas city is located in the scenic Flint Hills, so students will be able to enjoy their surroundings whether they live on campus or find college apartments.

Manhattan, known affectionately as "The Little Apple," has plenty for students to do when they are not in class, from shopping and dining to outdoor recreation opportunities. There is a zoo, many museums, theaters and historical landmarks in Manhattan. The Tuttle Creek State Park is a few miles north of the city and individuals can hike the trails, bird-watch and even spend a weekend roughing it at one of the 12 campgrounds. The little city is also halfway between the larger urban areas of Salina and Topeka, making either city a perfect weekend getaway destination. Enrollees who don't mind an hour-or-so commute can even look for student living opportunities in these major cities.
