All about

Saint Ambrose University, IA

Saint Ambrose University, a Roman Catholic liberal arts college, was founded in 1882 as a seminary and commerce school, but now offers a wide variety of more than 70 major options. The college was ranked number 40 among regional Midwest universities by U.S. News and World Report. Popular programs include Business, Healthcare, Education, Psychology and Biology. SAU students are able to design their own educational plan by combining the majors, minors and electives of their choosing.

There are fewer than 2,000 students at SAU, which means class sizes are small. The university also boasts a student to faculty ratio of 11 to one, so enrollees will be able to get to know their professors and fellow students during their time at St. Ambrose. About half of SAU students choose to live in university housing during their time at the college, and the other half seek off campus apartments and student living options in Davenport. The 118-acre campus is conveniently located in a residential area of the city, so students should have no trouble finding a place to live near the school.

When they are not attending classes, individuals can join any of the student-run organizations on campus, or explore downtown Davenport. The city is home to 27 parks and numerous hiking trails, perfect for those who love spending time outdoors. There are also plenty of other things to do around Davenport, and students can explore the Vander Veer Botanical Park or learn a thing or two at the Putnam Museum. The museum even has an IMAX theater that shows educational films as well as the latest box office smashes.
